ALCON INFINITI OZIL PHACOEMULSIFIER-LEGACY 20000 PHACO

Article:

Enhanced by technology and new surgical procedures, phacoemulsification of the nucleus has become increasingly important in cataract surgery. Phacoemulsification within the capsular bag has proven to be a valuable surgical technique, predominantly producing good results. In the hands of a trained carefully critical surgeon, this procedure results in a secure fastening in-the-bag intraocular lens. In intravitreal surgery is almost indispensable. In special cases, such as congenital coloboma, hydrophthalmia in adults, pseudo syndrome, bleeding risk of expulsion, or cataract surgery following penetrating keratoplasty, phacoemulsification of the core may be surgically safer than the expression of the nucleus through a large corneal incision.
METHODS:
Previous model and the current model phacoemulsifiers three manufacturers laboratory analysis of compliance and capacity were submitted. Previous generation models tested include the Legacy Advantec, Whitestar Sovereign Phacoemulsification System, and Millennium microsurgical system. Current models tested were the Infiniti Vision System with standard cassettes and intrepid, Whitestar phacoemulsification device subscription and Stellaris Vision Enhancement System. To measure the compliance, the suction line is connected to an electronic pressure transducer and small volumes of liquid are injected or aspirated. To measure the capacity, the space between the distal end of the suction duct, the pump was filled with methylene blue-dyed fluid.
RESULTS:
The Legacy was the most complacent phacoemulsifier. The old and new systems Whitestar, Millennium system and Stellaris system compliances showed similar average size. The Infiniti Vision System with the system fluid management Intrepid was the least compatible. The Infiniti cassettes had greater capacity, which is a loss in terms of impulse control, and cassettes signature had the lowest capacity.
CONCLUSIONS:
The Infiniti Intrepid system had the lowest compliance of the six tested units, which is great from the standpoint of control of outbreaks. All other things being equal, the Infiniti will have the safest answer outbreak occlusion UPS.

Surgical outcomes of phacoemulsification alone and phacoemulsification were combined compared with trabeculectomy in patients with primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG). The clinical records of 41 patients were analyzed retrospectively, and no difference in visual acuity and intraocular pressure preoperatively and at final follow-up in both study groups. As for the number of anti-glaucoma medications was higher in phacoemulsification combined with trabeculectomy group preoperatively than the phacoemulsification only group (p = 0.045), but both groups were taking similar amounts of medication at final follow up (p = 0.6). Additionally, postoperative hypotony (two patients) occurred only after phacoemulsification combined with trabeculectomy but only after phacoemulsification.
